Submission: Pedestrian Struck at Mt. Pleasant and Irving Sts, NW

Date: 9/29/10
Approx Time: 8AM
Description: Pedestrian crossing Mt. Pleasant St. @ Irving, headed west on N side of Irving, walking with walk signal in X-walk.

Stuck by white van turning north from Irving onto Mt P.

Pedestrian was Latino woman in her late 50s/early 60s, spoke little or no English. Van knocked her down on the turn, then ran over her legs with its back left wheel.

Van driver got out and argued to anyone who would listen that she never saw the pedestrian.

Pedestrian survived, taken away by EMS. EMS apparently was not aware she’d actually been run over by the truck until a witness told them as they were about to load her into the ambulance. Then all the cops kind of freaked out.
